Calmark's product Neo, which consists of a reader and different single-use tests for blood sampling on newborns, has a unique industrial design that the company has worked a long time to produce. The design is previously protected in Europe and the US, which means that no one can copy the ergonomic and aesthetic design of the product. As Calmark Sweden AB is planning a global launch within 18 months, the company is working actively with both patents and design rights in important future markets. The application and approval in China is an important part of the strategy as the Chinese market is considered interesting with regard to the size and infrastructure of the healthcare sector.
"The approval in China is very important for our upcoming launch of the product. We have put both time and money into developing a unique look for our reader, which is easy to use, practical and stylish,” says Anna Söderlund, CEO at Calmark. "Protecting the intangible values that we have built up for more than ten years is an obvious focus for Calmark.”
