About Calmark

Calmark is a privately held medical technology company based in Karlstad and with offices in Stockholm, Sweden. The company focuses on development of biomarker solutions for point-of-care detection of critical illness. The solutions aim to offer support and data to physicians in situations where time is critical and fast decisions have to be made. Traditionally, in vitro diagnostics companies focus on specific areas within the medical field, e.g. cardiovascular disease, diabetes, renal diseases, sepsis, etc. Calmark focuses on early detection of critical illness independently of the cause. Therefore, Calmark can offer great clinical benefits for the physician and an interesting complement to existing in-vitro diagnostic products on the market today.

Calmark's solutions offer:

  • Point-of-care detection
  • Small amount blood requirement, micro blood sampling
  • Rapidity and ease-of-use
  • Reliable results

There are already more than 2500 scientific articles published regarding Calmark's biomarkers and cell damage due to ischemia. In paediatrics, there are over 100 articles published supporting the theories, on which Calmark has designed its solutions. Up until today however the technology has been a limitation and analysis of the biomarkers have not been possible in critical situations and point of care.

Calmark was founded in 2007 by Mathias Karlsson, MD., Ph.D., and Sofia Hiort af Ornäs, MSc., with the vision to develop solutions for actual clinical needs.
